Tara Gelpey was brought up travelling extensively and spent a significant part of her childhood in the east. Her parents were art collectors and her mother would spend days scouring the antique cloths stores. A passion she has fortunately inherited. So it seemed a natural progression to move into a career in period costume were she worked for several years

Even though she is London based she spends a great deal of her time in the country side were she gathers inspiration from her love of wildlife and flowers.

Surrounded by so much beauty and movement, it is clear that functionality aesthetics and a little nostalgia are reflected in her designs.

I decided to design handbags as a matter of necessity as it proved for me an impossible task to find a designer handbag that was uncompromised. I insist that each of my designs must be functional, stylish and posses a unique beauty and attention to detail. The bag is a great canvas and I adore leather. It is a wonderful medium to work with. It’s soft, versatile and becomes more beautiful with time.

Every one needs a bag: you carry your life in it so why not make it beautiful.

London based Tara Gelpey formed Blush B-lush quite simply
out of pure indulgence to satisfy her need for a truly beautiful bag to carry her every day
life around in.

Tara worked in costume for several years developing a strong passion for materials, good design and a keen eye for detail. The urge to create her own perfect bag came to the fore when she just could not find a contemporary designer bag that combined beauty, style
and practicality.

Her collections are inspired by nature and with the use of appliqué and hand work, birds
and flowers come to life. She loves using pony skin and leather as a medium to work with
as it is soft, versatile and becomes more beautiful with time. Every bag is carefully hand crafted with tassels, bells and pom poms to play with. Designed for comfort, each bag is lined with sumptuous soft suede and leather and has a pocket system for all your essentials.
Everything, even down to the zip sliders, solid brass rings and studs show a personal touch and attention to detail.

The signature bag that expresses the Blush B-lush message for this season is ‘Isabelle’ with the use of rich Napa leather, soft ivory pony skin, solid brass bells and studs that, combined have created a hard but soft edge with a hint of the past
